Lovers in the moonlight

Essence - Date in the Moonlight*
This I got for free way back when I went to an Essence & Catrice event. I took these pictures a while back, and forgot about them until I found them when I was clearing up pictures for my camera! OOPS. Truth be told, I've only worn this nail polish once.. not because I hate it but because I've got such a back log of nail polishes to try out and swatch for all of you, that I'm abandoning all my 100+ nail polishes in the process which is insane.
Right, so onto this nail polish. The colour is absolutely gorgeous, almost a black navy with medium-blue shimmer? Yes, please! The durability of this? Not so much. It chipped the same day I wore it, in fact, in the swatches itself you can already see it chipping away. I took the pictures the same day I applied it, but didn't take them immediately. Well that sucks. I'm either applying a too thin coat at the end of my nails, or the durability just sucks. It sounds mean, but meh, I'd rather tell it as it is.
Essence nail polishes are basically my favourite nail polish brand with China Glaze coming a close second and Catrice a third! Those are my main nail polish brands in my collection. So me dissing an Essence nail polish is a huge thing in my books.
MAYBE, just maybe, I should've applied a top coat so it would've lasted for a longer period of time, but I didn't. So maybe it is because I didn't apply a top coat that it didn't last too long, or maybe I just applied a too thin coat, or maybe it's durability is just horrible. Three options there for you... and me.
Would I have purchased this myself? Yes. The colour is absolutely gorgeous and that is all I basically care about when I buy a new nail polish! Is it pigmented enough for my tastes? YES. 1 coat is fine with most Essence nail polishes, and it holds true with this too. I just have a habit of applying 2-3 coats. Does it last a long time? Er, no. Is it expensive? No, this is Essence we're talking about, the queen of cheap make up! Would I recommend this? Only if you like the colour!

Plum up the jam

So I loved and still do combining these two eyeshadows together. Sunny, We Love You on the inner half of my lid, and Plum Up the Jam on three quarters of my lid. So basically Sunny, We Love You shows up on only the first quarter of my lid. The reason I do this is so that the two eyeshadows blend together a lot nicer. It also gives off the illusion that there's an extra eyeshadow in there which obviously there isn't. By overlapping Plum Up the Jam over Sunny We Love You I'm lightening up Plum Up the Jam.
I wore these two together so much, I was getting sick of the combination but couldn't stop! I was like a crack addict over these two. But as time got on, I stopped using Sunny We Love You as much and focused on combining Plum Up the Jam with other colours.
Out of the two, I adore Plum Up the Jam a lot more. Why? Well, asides the fact that purple is my favourite colour, it also has little gold flecks which barely show up, but they're there. Very subtle.
Both eyeshadows are quite pigmented, but do not last as long as I'd like them too. Even with my favourite primer, ELF's Mineral Eyeshadow primer, Sunny We Love You tends to crease slightly whilst Plum Up the Jam does not.

Good Things Come to Those Who Wait

To be completely honest with you, and I am ashamed to admit this, I've never really taken care of my skin very well. As a teenager I didn't really need to. My skin was perfectly fine. When I was about 10 years old or so, I remember telling a friend and my mum that cleaning your face with soap makes it look whiter! I used to use a dove soap so it wasn't THAT bad for my face skin.. I don't think. I can't remember the exact age when I told a local beautician that I used a soap for my face, or how it came about, but I remember being reprimanded for it and told to use a good cleanser and moisturizer which I then proceeded to buy from her. They were by Sans Soucis. I liked the cleanser, but basically used it to remove my make up other than anything else. The moisturizer was too heavy for my skin. Then my acne (hormonal acne and not because of the products I was using) happened, used products prescribed my dermatologist and now my skin has gone through hell and back, I'm ready to start taking care of my skin properly.
So whilst watching many skin care routine videos, I came across people who were using Aveeno products. Unfortunately, I could only get them online and the shipping was EXPENSIVE. It was an entire hassle to find the all the products I wanted. So whilst waiting for my IPL appointment, I came across the Good Things skin care on a magazine. Surprisingly, there were some pretty good reviews about the products. I had seen them before, but thought they were childish products and wouldn't work and what not. Don't get me wrong, I do love the packaging quite a lot, but at first glance it does seem a little bit childish and whimsical. I bought 6 of their products yesterday. I love them. They all have superfruit extracts, mainly made up of natural ingredients and free from parabens, mineral oils, sodium laureth sulphate, animal ingredients and they are not tested on animals. Huge bonus points there. Asides the fact that they all smell so bloody amazing.
Below, you'll find pictures of the products and what they and their ingredients claim to do.
"Regular cleansing is the first step towards fabulous skin. This gentle creamy cleanser is enriched with moissturizing mango-seed oil to clean and comfort your skin without it drying out, while skin-calming cactus-extract and skin-boosting antioxidants from grapes and pomegranates will help to give your skin a fresh start."
Most cleansers make my skin feel like it's been overloaded with product and it just feels nasty. It's one of the reasons why I personally don't like using cleansers. However, this product doesn't feel that heavy, yet lol. It also makes my skin look very clean. That does sound weird when that's what cleansers are supposed to do, but again I've had problems with other cleansers. They made my skin feel dirty even when I've washed them off. Still, need to keep trying this out before I can say OH! THIS IS THE CLEANSER FOR ME. But for now it works, so win!
"Keep your skin fresh and clear with our gentle, exfoliating polish. It is specially formulated for skins prone to breakouts and congestion. Smooth micro-beads help to whisk away the dead skin cells that threaten to block pores and create blackheads. Special ingredients include skin-soothing licorice and willow bark extract which both help to reduce bacteria levels, while papaya extract helps to boost skin radiance."
- If I can be honest, I don't see that much of a difference after I've used this. But it does feel nice on the skin, and makes my skin feel really clean!
"Moisturiser helps to keep skin soft, smooth and in great condition. This light, hydrating lotion is easily absorbed and has SPF15 to help protect the skin from damaging UVB rays. Anti-oxidants goji-berry extract helps to sooth skin while papaya improves skin radiance."
- I've never really moisturized my skin before, except when I was using the Effaclar Wash by La Roche Posay which made my skin REALLY dry so a moisturizer was a must. But now my skin is really dry, especially because of the harsh winter and because of spring. Allergies dry out my skin like no tomorrow. This isn't heavy at all, and I won't say it's the best moisturizer ever, nor a holy grail. But I do like that it doesn't feel heavy and it doesn't feel oily. I think my skin at this time, needs a bit of a thicker moisturizer. Using this product will make my dry skin healing a slower progress.
"Helps reduce puffiness and dark circles around the eyes."
- I bought this because most skin routine videos and beauty articles suggest an eye cream. The fact that it says it reduces dark circles was a winner for me. I have my doubts whether it will or not, but there's nothing wrong with trying it out and moisturizing your delicate eye area right?
"Five-Minute Facial makes skin clearer, brighter and smoother. There's green clay and kaolin to draw out impurities, avacado oil to moisturise, goji berry extract to soothe and willow bark extract for radiance."
-Oh my God. Love. I put on this product and it felt amazing. My skin felt so smooth and clean. This is such a winner for me. Usually when I apply face masks my skin feels smooth, but tight and uncomfortable. This left it feeling smooth and soft. It smells wonderful, like all these products!
Firstly for my Daily Skin morning & night Regime , I'm going to be using the Fresh Start Creamy Cleanser. Rinse it,and then apply the Deep Clean Black Head Exfoliator. Then, rinse it off, and apply a moisturizer. For the morning, I'll be applying the Face the Day SPF 15 moisturizer and at night using the Dream Cream moisturizer. Following the moisturizer the Bright Eyes Eye Cream. Twice a week I'll be using the Five Minute Facial face mask. It's simple, uncomplicated and it feels amazing.
My skin has not felt great in weeks. I used it this morning, and no exaggeration, all the bad feelings on my skin were gone. It felt hydrated, it felt clean without feeling dry, I felt like I could actually move my face comfortably. That's just the initial feeling, so I'll have to see if these products are actually worth it in the long run! Also, before I forget to mention it, these products SMELL SO DAMN AMAZING. I'm serious, they smell so damn good.

Hot pink volcano

Catrice Ultimate Color - Pinkerbell
When I swatched this in the shop, I thought to myself whoa this is really bright. And it's so shiny. I bought it anyway and kept debating to myself for ages whether I should wear it out or not. I ended up wearing it out more than a couple of times as you can see by the 'tube'. Catrice lipsticks brand new look like this, and that shape's been long gone. I actually forgot about this lipstick and was going through my lipstick collection and found it. Was debating whether I should wear the Kate Moss 03 lipstick from an earlier collaboration with Rimmel or whether I should wear this. Since I wore the Kate Moss lipstick the night before, I decided to go with this.
It's a very creamy lipstick and feels very moisturizing. It's also quite pigmented but it does need going over in order to get its through colour onto your lips. I get paranoid about this lipstick smearing all around my mouth, but it didn't thank Jesus. So yeah, despite its creaminess it stays put!

Put on your shades

Blazer: River Island Jumper: New Look Skirt: Ebay [Also DIY] Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell Necklace: Ebay Earrings: New Look
On Saturday night I wore this skirt with the famous zara leopard head shirt. My zara leopard head shirt is from e-bay though, but I swear it is an exact dupe of it and it's actually made of pretty good material. Anyway, I thought I would wear this skirt again for Sunday and just dress it up differently. But how! Browsing through one of my drawers, I see this gray jumper and thought hmm.. will it look nice? It did. But then, what to wear over the top! I didn't want anything very neutral, but I didn't want anything too bright either. So, hello favourite blazer of mine! Ended up wearing my rose gold chain necklace, and hello outfit.
Now, I wore this skirt before when it was still in it's original form, i.e. without the split. I always thought the skirt looked boring and needed just a little something. So one day I asked my mum if its possible we could put a side split into the skirt, and she said we could. This was a good two and a half months back, so I'm finally wearing it again. I loved it.
